Practicing with a metronome
- Start at a tempo where you can play the passage perfectly, even if it feels slow.
- Play it right three times in a row, then raise the tempo by 4 to 8 BPM.
- Turn on eighths or triplets to lock in tricky rhythms and keep long notes steady.
- In 6/8, set 2 beats per measure with triplets, or 6 beats when the tempo is slow.
