Why Band Trainer exists
The problem
Rehearsal time is short, and a band director has dozens of students at different levels in the same room. The skills that hold students back the most, like reading rhythms, knowing fingerings, naming notes, and hearing whether a chord is in tune, are exactly the ones that improve with a few minutes of focused, daily practice. That practice is hard to fit into a full-ensemble rehearsal.
Band Trainer gives students a place to do that practice on their own, on any phone, tablet, Chromebook, or computer, with instant feedback. There are no accounts to create and nothing to install.
How the drills are designed
Every trainer is built around one skill that shows up in real band music, and every question gives immediate feedback, because students learn fastest when they find out right away whether they were right. Rounds are short, so a drill fits at the start of class, in a sectional, or during home practice. Difficulty goes up in small steps: more ledger lines, a new meter, a wider range.
Sound is part of every drill. Rhythms are heard before they are read, and fingerings play their pitch when you answer. The goal is for students to connect what they see, what they do, and what they hear, the same way they have to when they play.
